US Artquest Opening at their new Chelsea, MI location

Susan Pickering Rothamel  and Joe Rotella inspired us with some Make and Takes. My project was the owl.

Joe shared how he made a book embellishment with cereal box cutouts of gears. The book had layers of black, burnt umber and then he used the mica colors with his fingers for the metallic accents. The inside pages were made with envelopes!
Faux Leather Technique:
Spritz Tissue with spray bottle, and scrunch paper. Coat box w small bumpy pieces . Add Perfect Paper Adhesive matte, both below and above the scrunched tissue. Watch for flaps and put glue under. Dry with a heat gun.
Paint with black.  Dry with heat gun. Add Burnt Umber paint. Use textured item eg sea sponge, scrunched napkin. Dab on and twirl. Wet finger but watch that it does not drip off. Add Mica palette gold.
Us Artquest is a fun place to visit and shop at. So many paper techniques can be adapted to fabrics. Wanda, Sharon and I had a great time.
