“Sheer” Delight!


“Sheer” Delight!   

 Add several transparent layers or holes in sheer layers to create a more complex looking quilt. Work with sheer fabrics, net, and other media.

This techniques class will include uses of a variety of sheers in many different ways. We will  fold, gather, pleat, stamp, and heat distress sheers. We can also create grids and underlays with beads. Your samples can include feathers, leaves, flowers, trees, water, shadows, as well as layers of positive negative images.

The $10 kit fee includes foil, Lutradur, Tyvek, window screen, acrylic felt , synthetic fabrics  including nylon, organza / satin / tulle , Mistyfuse, transparancies   

Supplies: 
A few fat quarter cottons in a several colors as well as sky, land, water fabrics,  basic sewing supplies, sewing machine, 1 yard fusible web, 1 yard Peltex/ Timtex, small mat and rotary cutter, water soluble pen, Microtex needle 12/80 or smaller

Optional: 
-Sheers and synthetic ribbons in your stash if you want an even larger variety.
-beads, heat gun, heat tools as a soldering iron/ stencil cutter
-manual die cutter and dies

 I will bring my Cuttlebug and Sizzix with dies so you can also play with them 

The pictures are just a few examples of the possibilities.Some of the many techniques we will play with are heat distressing, backgrounds, overlays, floats,and positive/ negative images.
