Fabric Postcard Fall Quilt...created from internet swaps and UFOs...unfinished objects(a common quilt affliction) I also used many teaching samples from my Sheer Delight workshop. Feeling pleased that it is done! Love admiring the many creative techniques fellow quilters used in their postcard swaps.

Fly Me To The Moon:: An Art Quilt Journey
So excited to see my quilt in a fantastic book by Susanne Miller Jones. The quilt is highlighted on two pages. Susanne and Schiffer Publishing created an outstanding high quality book about Apollo 11' s journey to the moon via art quilts for the upcoming 50 year anniversary in 2019. 179 art quilts are part of a traveling exhibition until then. I relived so many emotions during that exciting period around 1969 while creating the quilt. Hard to believe it was that long ago! Thanks, Susanne!

Sheer Delight workshop
We painted cheescloth, Luradur, Tyvek
Cut instant appliques with diecuts,
Layered with sheers
Heat distressed under a hood in a lab with metal and heat tools for 3 layer sheer leaves and used a heat gun to create waterlily leaves.
We cut holes in quilted postcards and zigzagged around hole. We layers some with sheers and left some holes on purpose!

A Quilter's Paradise
The
final challenge of Project Quilting's Season 8 had a theme of Time's Up!
0.08 is the ticking
deadline. The chimney declares a quilter's addiction. The palm trees, her
process. The attic is made up of fiberglass window screen and vinyl
printed stress. The question mark is made of hardware cloth. Her gutters show
her being under the influence of fabric. Her philosophy of happily shopping for
fabric is her door. The fabric discount card under net is her enabler.
Selvedges count the variety of fabrics and colors in her stash. The path to her
studio is lined with sewing machines and tools to her success. Her body is an
hourglass made of sheer ribbon and her hands are on her hips because of her
fast approaching deadline. The fiber artist text is free motion quilted and is
the foundation of her happy place She embellishes her studio with pins from
many quilt shows and organizations that also enable her.

The Power of Positive Thinking
The challenge was to make a quilt inspired by a "well-dressed man." The Power of Positive Thinking design was created in Make the Cut software and the power plug was cut with my electronic cutter. The crystal ball and text are die cut and embellished with ribbons. The background is gelli printed and is quilted with opalescent thread.
