A Tribute To John

The quilt is based on a computerized picture that was taken at the Detroit Auto Show in the 1970s. I assigned  fabrics of about 30 values from beige to brown to black each letter and number of the alpha numeric portrait. My mom and daughters helped me label each individual square of the fabrics. I cut out one inch squares from the fabrics... so many of the finished squares are half an inch! The occasion for the quilt was my husband John’s 40th birthday.

Heart Topiary

Two groups I belong to issued challenges with a vintage theme.

The heart topiary holds memories, clothes and symbols of 4 generations. Included are my mom's wedding saree, my husband's brown jacket and tie for the flowerpot, my wedding dress, daughter's wedding dress, 2 leaves to represent our daughters, 3 doily flowers for the grand kids, and a butterfly from a handkerchief. Appliqued them onto my favorite runner to create something special and meaningful that can be displayed as a wall hanging or table runner.
