Silk Scarf Dyeing Fun on Mother's Day

We played with silk scarf dyeing in a baggie Mothers day on a lovely sunny afternoon on the deck.
Ofcourse we played with it much longer than the 5 minutes it took to dye the scarves because it was so much fun!

Silk Scarf Dyeing Fun

At our ASG meeting we enjoyed dyeing silk scarves with Colorhue dyes that were so quick, easy and lots of fun. We tried out many of Marlene Glickman's techniques and everyone had a great time. The  scarves did not have to be heat set and that it was not messy at all. We loved getting almost instant results! Sharon dyed a couple including one that matched her newly made raincoat.

Instant silk dying

At the Mancuso World Quilt and Textile show, Marlene Glickman shared how to dye silk scarves. Each of these scarves were done in less than 10 minutes in her booth. The best part is that the dyes were not messy! We did not even wear gloves while dying the scarves in a sandwich bag. She shared how to get the zebra stripe effect and the apprearance of squares just by how we folded the fabric. It was so much fun!
